History & Achievements
History
CPI(ML) Liberation traces its origins to the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) movement founded in 1969. The Liberation group emerged as a distinct political organisation in the 1970s and gradually developed an electoral and mass-movement approach alongside its political activities. Bihar became one of the party's principal organisational bases. From the 1990s onward, CPI(ML) Liberation increasingly participated in electoral politics in Bihar and developed representation in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The party has focused on issues including land rights, wages, social equality, workers' rights, agrarian concerns and democratic rights. The party's 11th Congress was held in Patna in February 2023. Its official records identify Dipankar Bhattacharya as General Secretary and document the participation of several Bihar leaders and legislators, including Mahboob Alam, Satyadev Ram and Sandeep Saurav.
