Background & Career
Prashant Kishor was born on 20 March 1977 in Konar village of Rohtas district, Bihar. He completed his schooling in Bihar and later earned a BBA from the University of Lucknow and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the Administrative Staff College of India in Hyderabad. Before entering Indian politics, he worked for several years on United Nations-supported public-health programmes, including work in Africa. He later became a political strategist and worked with several Indian political parties and leaders. He joined the Janata Dal (United) and served as its Vice-President from 2018 to 2020. In 2022, he began the Jan Suraaj campaign through a statewide padyatra in Bihar. The campaign was formally converted into the Jan Suraaj Party on 2 October 2024. He did not contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly election himself. In the August 2026 Bankipur Assembly by-election, he contested as a Jan Suraaj Party candidate and won with 64,151 votes, becoming an elected member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
